The Elliptical Table (Elliptical Table Rod Base) of 1951 – often named “the surfboard table”– is wholly in the tradition of American mid-century design with its simple design idiom. The idea of the bent chromed steel wires on which the table rests is a style element of the two designers: clearly an Eames look. This flat and lightweight piece of furniture becomes a room-defining element – whether in a loosely formed seating group or placed in front of a long sofa. The tabletop made from layered birch wood from the Baltic region is available with a black or white hard laminate.
