The Tolomeo model by Italian manufacturer Artemide is one of the most widespread writing desk lamps. Tolomeo Mega Terra has not only scaled this successful design up to a considerable size of 170 centimetres. Its lampshade also breaks with a design that had been purely functional up to this point. Made of special transparent paper, it quotes lamps of a way more traditional kind and optimally spreads a warm, dimmable light. Through an opening at the top of the shade, a cone of light shines subtly on the ceiling. The base, joints and arms are made of polished aluminium. Thanks to a carefully thought-out cable pull system, it is possible to change the direction of the light with just one hand movement. The construction is remarkably delicate yet stable.
